Car Hire

Armenia's breathtaking landscapes and historic gems beckon to be explored at your own pace. Hiring a car unlocks the freedom to discover hidden corners and create a truly personalized itinerary. With a variety of vehicles to suit your needs and budget, booking online in advance secures the best deals, especially during peak season. To rent a car, a valid driver's license held for at least a year is a must. Some companies might require an International Driving Permit, so check their specific requirements beforehand. The good news is that car rental prices in Armenia are generally considered affordable compared to Western Europe, with the final cost depending on car size, rental duration, and chosen insurance options. Now, let's talk about navigating Armenia's roads. While main roads are well-maintained, be prepared for some potholes and uneven surfaces, especially on secondary routes. Mountain roads can be winding and narrow, so proceed with caution and enjoy the stunning views along the way. Renting a car with GPS navigation or downloading offline maps onto your phone is a wise move. Although road signs are increasingly bilingual (Armenian and English), having navigation provides extra peace of mind, especially on unfamiliar routes. Remember, Armenia follows the right-hand drive rule. If you're not used to this, take some extra time to adjust and be especially cautious at intersections. Parking in city centres can be limited, so look for designated parking zones or guarded parking lots. Safety is paramount, so always wear your seatbelt and adhere to traffic regulations. Be aware of livestock and pedestrians who might share the road, especially in rural areas. With a little planning and awareness, navigating Armenia's roads can be a rewarding experience.
